Hi Peeps. I had a vision, and I don't know if it belongs here or in one of my performance art pieces.
Imagine: a line of men and women, all in high heels, all very sincerely singing Extreme's "More Than Words," all doing slo-mo and controlled, macho, crotch-grabbing gestures (a la Michael Jackson) at the same time. Everybody is standing and singing and gesturing except for the person on the end, who is singing AND running on a coin-operated treadmill. The audience has to put a quarter in the treadmill for the piece to proceed. After the performers get to the end of the song, they wait for someone to put another quarter in and then all shift down by 1 position, so a new person is on the treadmill. The "game" begins again.

Luc and Elizabeth love this game! Let's be on the lookout for a used treadmill!
ReplyDeleteYep. I'm totally in. Could we make sure that we calibrate the treadmill so that either running or walking is completely pedantically rhythmic with the song? We also thought it might be funny to have a projection of landscape zooming by such as one might see in a cheesy beach movie as the giant convertible zooms along. Too much?
ReplyDeleteNOT TOO MUCH! i love it. and yes, i adore the idea of calibrating the treadmill. my thoughts exactly. i'd bet craigslist would be a good place to find a used treadmill, especially purchased before the dead of winter when going to the gym seems like too much of a trauma and people decide to stay home to exercise. my guess is that there will be fewer treadmills available in the winter, but i'm not known for my knowledge of winter folk (being from texas and all).
